Born and raised in Troutville, Virginia I began to build my carpentry skills in my father's cabinet shop. It started with the fabrication and installation of cabinetry and both laminate and solid surface countertops. After taking every woodworking class available I graduated from Lord Botetourt High School in 2000. I continued working in my father's cabinet shop, improving my carpentry and fabrication skills at every opportunity.

After marrying my wife Lindsay in 2002, we moved to Cary, NC where I accepted a position as Superintendent for a Custom Home Builder. It was during my tenure overseeing the construction of residential homes from start to finish that I gained immeasurable experience working with all of the home building trades. That experience resulted in the oversight of the construction of our own home in 2008. Soon after the birth of my son we moved back to Roanoke where I resumed my position in my father's cabinet shop. Eventually I became the Shop Supervisor. Our family became a family of four with the addition of our daughter. In time I became the Operations Manager for my father's company where I remained for the next 11 years.

In the spring of 2020, I decided to establish my own business, doing what I love the most, working with my hands or as we now call them, my "Bear Hands". Now I am proud to be the owner and operator of Black Bear Home Repair. I can't wait to meet you and help you with your next home repair, home improvement or renovation project.
